Projects
Akleja

Together with Regina Kunkel (Nyckelharpa) I play instrumental folk music as the duo "Akleja" since 2014. We draw our inspiration from musical encounters, nature and our travels. Our musical focus is on pieces from rediscovered music manuscripts and our own compositions.
The Swedish folk magazine Lira wrote the following about our album "Wasser und Erde": "The music is meant for the dance floor, but played so beautifully that you can dream yourself away to next summer while listening." Our second album "Im Verborgenen" was chosen as the "Album of the Month April 2024" by the Belgian magazine "Le Canard Folk" and was nominated for the prestigeous "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik" (German Record Critics' Award).
Fior

With the folk band Fior, consisting of Regina Kunkel (nyckelharpa), Rick Krüger (vocals, bagpipes, clarinet, flutes), Sebastian Elsner (hurdy-gurdy) and me, we focus on pieces and songs from Germany.
Our debut album "Manuskript" (released in May 2022) has received excellent press reviews. For example, it was nominated for the prestigeous "Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik" (German Record Critics' Award), chosen by the Belgian magazine "Le Canard Folk" as "Album of the Month June 2022" and the leading German folk magazine "Folker" gives the album an "unconditional recommendation".
Plønk

Since 2024 I play in a duo called "Plønk" with the Danish multiinstrumentalist Christian Mohr Levisen. Together, we fuse our passion for folk music, captivating melodies and intimate duo playing to breathe new life into the Waldzither — a traditional 9-stringed plucked instrument from Germany.
Nyckelharpawochenende

Since 2019 I'm organizing workshop weekends for folk music with a focus on the nyckelharpa together with the nyckelharpa builder Johannes Mayr in different places in Germany (currently Balingen, Proitze and Altenmünster) with instructors from Germany and abroad. We offer nyckelharpa courses for all levels and ensemble courses with different topics. Our courses are among the largest in Europe for this instrument and are usually fully booked.

Teaching

Teaching is a matter that is close to the heart for me and I take great pleasure in passing on my knowledge. I myself have benefited a lot from the generosity and openness of other musicians and I take the same approach when teaching, whether private lessons, course weekends in Germany or abroad or even online. I regularily teach workshops for one specific instrument (e.g. nyckelharpa) and ensemble.
If you're interested in taking lessons with me or booking me for a course weekend, please send me a mail.
Guest Musician

In addition to my own projects, I also enjoy working as a guest musician. For example, I have recorded musical contributions for several bands (e.g. PurPur, Tini aka Gabria), school book publishers and short film soundtracks.
